Tierra y Mar (Main House)
Hidden in the mountains of Mal País, surrounded by a lush tropical forest, the architectural platforms that make up the different spaces of the house rise sinuously. Alongside a colorful and bold landscape, they frame the various environments of the project. The rugged topography offers an expansive view of Mal País beach and its spectacular sunsets, tinted in red.
The architectural program consists of a main house with an infinite view pool, all surrounded by tropical gardens.
Wood blends with white concrete panels and lightweight materials, accompanied by glass framed in black aluminum. These elements create three distinctive color tones that, in harmony with the surrounding greenery, form the perfect palette for the enjoyment of the space. The soft textures of the floors further enhance the tactile experience, enriching the contact with the user’s skin.
This design expresses a tropical architectural style where the main objective is to blur the line between the interior and exterior. This approach allows for optimal ventilation and openings, ensuring better bioclimatic performance. The horizontality of the project helps to counteract direct sunlight, providing illumination without overheating the spaces, thus embodying Costa Rican architecture with the highest contemporary standards and luxury.
