Tierra y Mar (Guest House)
Tucked into the hillside and reaching out toward the treetops, this bioclimatic guest house is a celebration of form, function, and the forest itself. Its iconic curved roof, sculpted to echo the natural contours of the mountains, harvests both shade and air flow, allowing the interior to breathe.
Suspended above the ground, an elevated bridge leads guests from the house and directly into the canopy, offering a surreal experience of walking among the branches, birds, and even howler monkeys. It’s not just a passage, it’s an immersion into nature.
Inside, the design honors simplicity and comfort, using locally sourced materials with minimal intervention. Light enters softly through carefully placed openings, framing views of the Pacific and the dense jungle below. Passive cooling, natural ventilation, and solar orientation ensure year-round comfort with minimal reliance on mechanical systems.
